Abdulkader Shareef
Abdulkader Abdulwahid Muhammad Shareef, Ibn Shaykh Abi Bakr bin Salim Al-Alawi Al-Husayniyy, was born in Zanzibar in 1944. A distinguished scholar in Islamic Studies, he has lectured at SOAS, Manchester, and Exeter Universities. His career spans diplomacy, serving as Tanzania’s Ambassador to the Gulf and High Commissioner to the UK and Ireland. Retiring in 2006, he dedicated himself to research, writing, and teaching. Shareef has authored numerous Kiswahili translations of seminal Islamic texts, enriching access to Hadith literature.
